Melkom Group, a major Russian agro-industrial holding, plans to launch two fish feed production lines in the first quarter of 2026 after refashioning a grain processing plant west of Moscow.
Using equipment imported from China, the plant in Vyazma, Smolensk region, will have capacity to produce 108,000 metric tons per year of feed for salmon, sturgeon and carp, Melkom said in a statement.
Investment in the project is expected to total RUB 9.7 billion (€107 million/$124 million).
The feed product is being developed by Melkom’s own scientific and technical center in conjunction with the All-Russian Fisheries Research Institute, using a formula designed to take into account the physiological characteristics of specific fish.
