Skretting, the Norway-based aquaculture feed giant, is keeping a close eye on Iceland’s growing salmon production with a view potentially to establishing a feed plant in the country when output reaches a critical mass, a senior company official told IntraFish.

Skretting Norway General Manager Haavard Walde said he believed Iceland had the long-term potential to become the world’s third-largest salmon producer.

“This will take time,” he told IntraFish, “but the potential is clearly there. If there is any place in the world with really strong advantages for good operations, it’s Iceland.”
