Cermaq CEO questions sustainability claims of certain feed alternatives

The CEO of Mitsubishi-owned salmon farmer Cermaq, Geir Molvik, is calling for a more nuanced debate on the use of alternative ingredients in feed, questioning the sustainability credentials of some, in particular grasshopper meal.

In June, Norwegian salmon sales and marketing consortium Salmon Group signed an exclusive agreement with insect protein producer Metapod to develop a new protein source for salmon feedfrom grasshoppers.
