Cargill, Innovafeed create industry's first long-term commitment between insect producer and aquaculture feed company

US feed giant Cargill and French alternative feed producer Innovafeed have formed a partnership to scale the production of insect meal.

"To the best of our knowledge, this is the first substantial, long-term commitment between an insect meal producer and a major player in aquaculture feed," Cargill aqua nutrition Global Sourcing Director Brad Rude told IntraFish.

The agreement combines Innovafeed’s expertise and Cargill’s capabilities to scale the use of insect ingredients in multiple types of animal feed.

"Our early focus is salmon feed, but we see long-term potential in other aquaculture feeds as well as livestock, Rude told IntraFish.
