A pilot facility to produce salmon feed from carbon dioxide and hydrogen gases has opened in the Netherlands and will ship its first products in the next few months, the UK-based developers of the project said on Tuesday.
Aerbio, formed from the management buyout of Nottingham, England-based biotechnology firm Deep Branch, aims to produce an initial 200 kilograms per month of a novel single-cell protein called Proton, it said in a joint statement with the Sustainable Aquaculture Innovation Centre (SAIC).
