Nufarm Seed Technology is awaiting final decisions from the European Union and the United Kingdom on whether they will follow Norway’s lead in accepting the company’s genetically modified (GM) crop for aquaculture feed, a company official told IntraFish.
The Australia-based biotech company, better known as Nuseed, filed its application with the European Food Safety Authority in 2019 and with its UK and Scottish counterparts in 2022. These applications differ from the Norwegian approval in that, in addition to aquaculture feed, they also include use of the product for human consumption.
