'With less danger comes more comfort'
Fancy technology is making its way onto more and more boats these days now that quota systems have replaced more dangerous derby-style fishing systems in Alaska fisheries.
"With less danger comes more comfort," Tyler Adams, Safety and Environmental Compliance Manager for Pacific Fishermen Shipyard and Electric, told Fishing News International.
Fishermen are springing for better phones, he said.
Travis Johnson, a technician for Lunde Marine Electronics, said satellite dishes with Internet systems, mobile phone service and telephone service are hot items.
"Lots of fishing boats are doing this now, and lots of yachts," Johnson said.
