Sustainability and eco-certifications were among the big topics at NASF 2013 -- but the question if consumers really care needs to be asked too.

"Customer themselves don’t show a huge interest in sustainability," said Alexander Wever, founder of seafood consultancy AWF and a previous manager of the seafood categories at German retailers Globus and METRO.

"It's more about quality and price," he said.
