The Nor-Fishing Foundation announced Tuesday it canceled Nor-Fishing 2020, which was set for August in Trondheim, Norway.

The event is one of the largest fisheries technology exhibitions in the world, and is staggered every other year with the AquaNor show.

Earlier in April the Norwegian government decided to extend the prohibition on events that larger than 500 people until September, the foundation said.

Organizers were initially considering postponing the event until May of next year, but said feedback from exhibitors revealed the show is "not relevant for a large number of the exhibitors."

The Nor-Fishing Foundation is now looking at creating a digital version of Nor-Fishing 2020. In the meantime, all hotel bookings will be automatically canceled, organizers said.

Nor-Fishing is just the latest seafood event to be cancelled or postponed this year. Diversified Communications, which operates the Brussels and Boston seafood shows, has cancelled the European event and has postponed the US trade show until September, though that date remains in question.
