Industry has high hopes for Eco-bath
Atlantic Canada fish farmers are keen to explore the Eco-bath technology that is now on trial for sea lice prevention at the Hunstman Marine Science Centre.
“People are really hopeful about the Eco-bath,” Kathy Kaufield, communications manager for the Atlantic Canada Fish Farmers Association, told IntraFish.
When sea lice was detected on several farms in July of 2010, the association managed a well-boat project to treat the lice, which treats salmon on land and avoids the negative environmental impacts of releasing treatment into the marine environment.
