While the post-COVID landscape is uncertain, one seafood expert is raising concerns around how well smaller players will hold up.

"The bigger you are, the better you are to survive this. I worry the pandemic will reduce small-time competition," said Ed Hale, fisheries, seafood, & aquaculture specialist for Sea Grant Delaware.

Many commercial fishers and aquaculture producers in his state, like in the rest of the United States and other countries, have had to switch to direct-to-consumer sales.
