Salmon farming giant Mowi Scotland on Thurdsay announced actions it is taking to protect employees during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The measures include health protection advice, risk assessments across all the business's divisions, staggered shifts, providing additional hand sanitizer, offering support to employees who usually car share or employees who need help with childcare.

“Both the UK and Scottish governments have reiterated the vital role that food producers play in the well-being of the nation, and have said we should, if possible, keep going,” Mowi Scotland Head of Human Resources Joanna Peeling said.

“While many of us are able to work from home with proper support, some of us are designated as essential key workers because we play a crucial part in caring for our animals and securing our food supply.”

Some of the key workers at Mowi are feed manufacturers, farmers, health professionals, processors, and logistics personnel.
