Maldives shows true sustainability
The words 'sustainability' and 'eco-friendly' are all too often used to pander to environmental and conservationist groups. However, in the case of the Maldives-based Ensis Fisheries PVT Ltd. company, sustainability is indeed at the core of their business.
Starting from a modest 20 metric tons per month of production, and utilizing local artisanal fishing vessels using only pole and line fishing methods, the company has grown rapidly from its 2002 start to its current capacity of 220 metric tons per month (300 during peak season) it enjoys today.
