Verlasso salmon on the fast track

Sales of Verlasso salmon tripled last year, director Scott Nichols told IntraFish over a coffee, but now Nichols would like the product to expand on a bigger scale.

"We're not going to meet our sustainability or business goals unless we grow beyond a niche," he said.

Verlasso is working with Monterey Bay Aquarium to try and get listed as an "approved" seafood on the organization's massively influential seafood cards. In the meantime, the company is keeping up its tireless communications and training with chefs, retailers and consumers.
