ON JULY 2, wellknown fish health company Aquaculture Vaccines Ltd (AVL) celebrated its 20th anniversary - just a couple of months after becoming part of the Schering - Plough Animal Health group.
FFI recently talked to AVL founder Dr Patrick Smith about the England-based company's history - and its plans for the future.
FFI: How did AVL start up?
Patrick Smith: AVL was originally a daughter company of an American company called Wildlife Vaccines, which was started by a couple of research students from the University of Oregon who had been working on fish vaccines and decided to go into business.
