To get a feel of the scale of shrimp farming, National Geographic photographer George Steinmetz took a drone video of the largest shrimp farm, according to FeedThePlanet on Instagram.
Located in Sumatra, Indonesia, the farm was previously a mangrove swamp and currently covers 80 square kilometers and supports about 9,000 families, he said.
Overall, the United States imported 605,064 metric tons worth $5.71 billion (€5.34 billion) last year.
