Iowa-based VeroBlue Farms entered an agreement with Opposing Flows Aquaculture Wednesday to purchase 2,000 patented "opposing flows" technology land-based recirculating tanks for more than $100 million.

The new tank systems will be delivered over the next three years to the VBF operation in Webster City, Iowa, which operates under the brand “Iowa’s First," the companies announced.

With the new tank systems, VeroBlue will produce about 40 million pounds of fish annually. It has successfully produced barramundi for the past two years.

“We’ve been looking for several years at tank systems all over the world and we came across the opposing flow tank systems," VeroBlue Chairman and CEO Leslie Wulf told IntraFish.
