Norway's algal bloom has now claimed 11,600 metric tons of salmon, and is still ongoing, Norway's Directorate of Fisheries said Wednesday in update on the level of mortalities caused by the bloom hitting salmon farms in Troms and Nordland.

Of the total, 6,800 metric tons were killed in Troms, where the spread of algae has now slowed, and 4,800 metric tons in Nordland. The value of the dead biomass amounts to approximately NOK 720 million.
