Shellfish producers in the UK - be they mussel farmers or seafood importers - benefit in many ways by being members of the Shellfish Association of Great Britain (SAGB).

First formed in 1903 to help oyster growers, the association now helps its membership deal with matters ranging from new legislation, advances in technology, supplies, market demand and so on.

In the SAGB's most recent newsletter (December 2005), members can find details on native oyster regeneration, mussel farming in Cornwall and a scheme headed by TV seafood chef Rick Stein aimed at interesting the consumer in underutilised shellfish.
