Trout company moves into marine fish

WORLDWIDE provider of trout eggs, US-based Troutlodge, Inc, has expanded into commercial marine aquaculture with the purchase of Unlimited Aquaculture (UA) in Hawaii.

Marine Aqua, a Washington limited liability company formed by the owners of Troutlodge of Sumner, Washington, announced the purchase in July. Troutlodge is the world's leading producer of eyed salmonid eggs.

UA was founded in 2004 by Don MacQuarrie and Ian Shand to produce sablefish and halibut in a land-based marine environment at the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) facility in Kona.
