Singapore-based Apollo Aquaculture Group is setting up a high-tech farm in Brunei in a joint venture, reports The Straits Times.
Eric Ng, group chief executive officer at Apollo, said the vertical fish-farming system will be remotely controlled and monitored from Apollo the company's farm in Singapore.
With underwater sensors to measure parameters like temperature and salinity, the need for manpower is reduced and workers can respond to emergencies quickly, he said.
The annual output is expected to reach 5,000 metric tons per year, producing fish for consumption, such as groupers, as well as ornamental fish.
