Nordic Seafood has signed a farming contract with Hoa Nghia farmer groups and processor Stapimex to collaborate on Aquaculture Stewardship Council certification.
A signing ceremony was organized in Soc Trang province by WWF–Vietnam in cooperation with Nordic Seafood.
"European consumers increasingly demand shrimp products to meet not only food safety standards but also those of social-environmental responsibility," said Soren Bull, deputy general director of Nordic Seafood A/S Denmark.
"ASC certified shrimp products are increasingly appreciated by Northern European consumers. "In the following years, Nordic Seafood A/S Denmark commits to buy and expand ASC certified shrimp from small-scale farmers through the farming contract or the link between small-scale farmer groups with processors and retailers in Europe.”
