ALNMARITEC, which designs and builds aluminium workboats on the north-east coast of England recently delivered a new mussel harvesting workboat to Loch Etive on the west coast of Scotland.
Molly Malone II has been built for Muckairn Mussels, one of the region's leading mussel producers. The new boat was purchased by owner Walter Speirs to support increased production and as a replacement for the original Molly Malone, which was built by Alnmaritec in 1993.
The boat is a pontoon catamaran, 13 x 5m, and is powered by a Beta Marine 90bhp diesel engine coupled to a single Hamilton 213 waterjet hung in a central pod.
