New Jersey-based biopharmaceutical firm Merck Animal Health (MSD Animal Health) said Thursday it is sponsoring the 2018 High Quality Tilapia Science Award to support research in tilapia health, production and welfare.
One recent graduate in veterinary or animal science will be able to present their research to industry specialists at the upcoming MSD Animal Health High Quality Tilapia meeting this October in Brazil.
“With growing demand for safe, affordable protein, the tilapia industry is working hard to ensure the health and welfare of the stocks they are rearing," said Chris Beattie, head of aquaculture at Merck.
