On Monday, Oct. 26, Norwegian salmon giant Marine Harvest will launch a new closed-containment cage at its Molnes site.
Provided by Aquafarm Equipment, the construction of the cage was undertaken in two sections at Mosterfarm’s Serklau industrial site at Bomlo in Sunnhordland.
Final touches were applied at the end of September.
After the launch, the cage will undergo tests in order to gain certification, Atle Presthaug, general manager at Aquafarm Equipment, told IntraFish.
The new semi-closed containment construction is an upgraded version of that used by Marine Harvest for smolt release trial last year.
