Marine Harvest Ireland -- the largest salmon farmer in the country -- has signed off on a new arrangement with Connemara-based aquaculture company Mannin Bay Salmon, reports the Connacht Tribune.
Around half a million smolts will be put to sea on the Bertraghboy Bay in the first part of the five-year program.
Marine Harvest Ireland produces 10,000 metric tons of salmon per year in Ireland.
