Marine Harvest Canada (MHC) Director Ken Taylor said demand was high last year for the United States and Canada.
“We saw a 10 percent jump in domestic sales last year, which is fantastic. Canadians are eating a lot of salmon and are buying our premium fresh product before it is exported,” said Taylor in MHC's May newsletter.
Although the United States has the largest market share for BC salmon, Canada now accounts for nearly a third of salmon processed at the Port Hardy and Klemtu plants.
