Salmon farming company Loch Duart said Monday omega-3 levels in its farmed salmon are high despite a recent BBC report stating “omega-3 levels in farmed salmon have halved over the last five years.”
Loch Duart commissioned the Nutrition Analytical Service at the University of Stirling's Institute of Aquaculture to analyze the fatty acid in its salmon for the EPA + DHA components to find the omega-3 content.
Three samples averaged 2.7g of EPA/DHA in a 130g portion of Loch Duart salmon, which is 90 percent of the weekly recommended requirement of 3g EPA + DHA, the company said.
