STRUGGLING aquaculture firm Lighthouse Caledonia has successfully completed a NOK150 million (US $21.3 million) private share issue having narrowly avoided bankruptcy.

The share issue – which essentially involves freeing up company-owned shares for external shareholders to buy at a fixed, lower price – has secured working capital and liquidity.

“This shows that the new investors have confidence that the strategy determined by the company will be sound and profitable in the future,” DnB Nor markets analyst Klaus Hatlebrekke told Fish Farming International.
