DSM - the Netherlands-based major feed additives company that took over Roche Vitamins - has launched a new version of an antibiotic residue-screening test kit called PremiTest that can be used to examine fish feeds as well as seafood products for traces of antibiotics.
The PremiTest kit is extremely fast, sensitive and detects a large number of antibiotic residues, according to Francoise de Goeijen of DSM.
In its latest version of the test covers eight different types of antibiotics and produces reliable results within four hours, including a ten-minute pre-incubation stage.
