When Pacific Seafood Group was given the Best Choice recommendation by Monterey Bay Aquarium’s Seafood Watch program for its farmed steelhead trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) earlier this month, it wasn’t the first such accolade placed on the Portland, Oregon-based seafood giant. Two years ago, the Washington state farm was the first US salmon or steelhead farm ever to be certified by the Global Aquaculture Alliance (GAA) Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP).
Both are quite laudable achievements for the billion dollar company, which just purchased the steelhead farm seven years ago.
