US COMPANY Reed Mariculture says it may have a solution for farmers who are either tired of growing algae to feed rotifers or to 'produce greenwater', have suffered 'culture crashes' or are looking for a non-fouling enrichment that can also produce live rotifers.

Its product, Instant Algae, is a highly concentrated marine microalgae paste, comprising a pure photo-trophically grown marine microalgae that is mixed with a food grade preservative to give it a two-year frozen shelf life.

Originally developed for growing bivalve shellfish, it comes in several commonly used cultures including Nannochloropsis, Isochrysis, Tetraselmis, and Pavlova.
