AUSTRALIAN technology company Seafood Innovations has now automated the harvesting process so that a single operator can manage a harvest line where up to 90 fish per minute are stunned and bled, claims the company.
Seafood Innovations has developed an automated flow-through pneumatic bleeding system called SI-B (patent pending) using a design which builds on its SI5 pneumatic stunning machines and allows stunning and bleeding in one rapid sequence.
The new automated system combines 'flow-through' delivery technology with the instinctive behaviour of the fish to encourage them to swim into strategically directed currents of water which lead them to the stunning and bleeding machines.
