Fish farmers in Lagos State, Nigeria, are struggling due to a jump in fish feed prices in the region, reports All Africa.
Prices have gone up 80 to 100 percent, according to farmers. As a result, some of them abandoned their farms in search of other business ventures.
Nurudeen Tiamiyu, managing director of Amolese Aquaculture Nigeria Limited, said a 15-kg bag of catfish feed produced in Nigeria was a few months ago sold at NGN 6,000 (€18.10/$19.70) but that it now sells for NGN 9,000 (€27.10/$29.60).
