The Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) has recognized Bord Iascaigh Mhara’s (BIM) Certified Quality Aquaculture (CQA) certification program.

The recognition accredits that the Irish farm standard is in alignment with all essential components of the GSSI’s FAO-backed Global Benchmark Tool.

“This recognition shows that the scheme and their farm standard is in line with the FAO’s guidelines for aquaculture certification,” said Herman Wisse, managing director of the GSSI.

A total four fisheries and four aquaculture schemes including the the Alaska Responsible Fisheries Management program (RFM), the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) and the Best Aquaculture Practices (BAP) Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) are now recognized by the GSSI.
