Tempers soared at a public information meeting held in Belfast, Maine, Dec. 17 by Nordic Aquafarms. The company is looking to build one of the world's largest land-based salmon farms in the world in the rural city by 2020.

The meeting, which was held to inform waterfront owners within a mile of the future farm's proposed water discharge, was focused on Nordic Aquafarms' Maine Pollutant Discharge Elimination System Permit (MEPDES).
