THE UN's Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), has thrown its weight behind shrimps farming in Nigeria.
This, according to FAO, would enable unemployed youths to avail themselves the opportunity of the new technique for shrimps farming being taught by the organisation.
FAO aquatic resource manager Jim Millar was one of the fisheries experts who gathered at a recent workshop in Lagos to draw regulations that will guide investors on shrimp farming in Nigeria. He said that shrimp farming, worth a potential US$200 million in investment, will kick start with about 20 farmers cutting across the country by June.
