ENOUGH trout eggs to cover almost all Spanish needs will be produced this year by Ovapiscis, which operates two spring water installations in the north.
Alfonso Teruel, one of its owners, as well as being managing director of partner Alevins Del Moncayo SA (ADM), met FFI at one of the facilities, at Villanua near the Pyrenees. The other is at Lugo, in north-west Spain.
"Our reproductive population is selected on growth, morphology - the search for an elongated trout - and carcass and fillet yield, obtained through international co-operation," he explains.
