Costa Rican shrimp firm Corporación Camaronera La Parrita's farming operations are up for sale for an asking price of $8 million (€7.4 million), as owner Philip Pruett is looking to retire.

The farm has been in continuous shrimp production since 1999 and currently sells its shrimp to Rainbow Exporting, part of German importer Ristic, which was acquired by Belgian group Shore (formerly Morubel) last year.

La Parrita has been producing at about 200 metric tons of shrimp per production cycle in a semi-intensive and intensive production model, Pruett, who got involved with the operation in 1996, told IntraFish
