Cooke receives approval for new Scotland salmon farm

Cooke Aquaculture Scotland, the UK-based salmon farming subsidiary of Canada's Cooke Seafood, has received local approval for a second salmon farm in Orkney.

The Orkney Islands Council Planning Committee on Thursday approved the creation of a six-cage salmon farming site located off of East Moclett, Papa Westray, in the North Sound in Scotland, the company said.

Cooke plans to start hiring and training six new local employees to service the East Moclett site out of the company’s Westray shorebase in 2023.
