Conquering aquaculture’s ‘most important challenge’

For fish farmers, sea lice is no light matter — just in the past two weeks, Russian Aquaculture reported net losses due in large part to heavy lice mortalities, Sernapesca spoke of a rough “sea lice load” this year and executives at both Marine Harvest and AquaGen have called sea lice one of the biggest thorns in aquaculture’s side.

“From a cost point of view, sea lice … is most challenging,” Marine Harvest CEO Alf-Helge Aarskog told IntraFish at AquaNor 2015.
