Mitsubishi-owned Cermaq said in its 2018 sustainability report it achieved its target for sustainable fish health for the year, but failed to meet fish-escape and efficient production goals.

The company met its goal for overall fish mortality of Atlantic salmon at 5.5 percent at the end of December 2018, a slightly higher mortality rate compared with 5.3 percent in 2017.

It reported increases in mortality rates across its farming sites in Norway and Canada in 2018, but also saw a drop in mortality rates in Chile.
