Ricardo Garcia, Camanchaca CEO, is setting expectations low for Chilean salmon growth in the coming year, putting into context the first half's 22 percent year-on-year production growth in light of the severe challenges faced by the sector last year.

"That we saw 22 percent growth in Chile in the first half of this year is not surprising as we know how it was in the first half of 2017," said Garcia.

Growth in the second half is expected to be 7 percent, which gives total annual growth of 15 percent.
