Australian salmon farmer Huon Aquaculture is temporarily suspending farm-gate sales at its Parramatta Creek processing facility and Hideaway Bay farm shops over coronavirus concerns.

“This temporary measure allows us to better manage visitors to our sites, thereby safeguarding our employees and business,” Huon Aquaculture CEO Peter Bender said.

In addition to the farm-gate closure, the company is also freezing employee travel and encouraging teleconferencing.

The company does intend to resume farm-gate sales as usual once the situation cools off.

Huon salmon and trout can continue to be ordered online for home delivery.
