In a 10-person panel at the Aquaculture Investment Workshop put on by the US Soybean Export Council (USSEC), major fish farming players, mostly in the Latin American industries, spoke about the challenges each faced, which ranged from feed and funding to talent and technology.

University of Miami’s Daniel Benetti, who moderated the panel, summed up all of the obstacles into one huge issue: “The biggest challenge seems to be how big we are.”

“Here if you put all of us together, you see how insignificant we are [compared to the aquaculture industry in other nations],” he said.
