The international seafood industry has relied heavily on ice when transporting product for over a century and why not? It is relatively cheap and does the job. However, it also comes with a great deal of mess, which in turn impacts the cost of packaging and cleaning. What’s more, it rules out the possibility of filling empty cargo space with any other product, raising transport costs.
