A study comparing the environmental impact of fish fingers against that of plant-based alternatives is being criticized by the leading association of Alaska pollock producers, who supply much of the raw material used in breaded frozen fish products across Europe, the UK and beyond.

The study, commissioned by the Swiss arm of the World Wildlife Fund (WWF), claims the environmental impact of fish fingers per 100 grams exceeds that of plant-based alternatives by a factor of 3.6 in a so-called Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) of fish finger products made from the two items.
