South Korean land-based aquaculture producer BluGen is gathering funds it will need to begin producing the country's most popular fish.

BluGen's plan to farm 1,000 metric tons of olive flounder in a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) facility will be a first for the country when it is finalized next year, founder and CEO Woo-Jai Lee told IntraFish.

Norwegian land-based farmer Salmon Evolution, which together with Dongwon has been planning a land-based salmon farm in the county since 2021, will start construction of its South Korean $154 million (€149 million) facility in the new year.
