Russia’s pollock surimi production exceeded 24,000 metric tons by mid-November, according to the Russia’s Pollock Catchers Association (PCA), a notable increase made on the back of purposeful investments in the industry last year.

The figure is around four times that of the same period last year.

Russia began producing minced surimi last year thanks to the commissioning of new trawler Vladimir Limanov by the Russian whitefish giant Russian Fishery Company (RFC), as well as a new onshore processing facility built under the ongoing state investment quota program.
