An estimated 87,000 cod have escaped from a Gadus Group's site in Norway after holes were discovered in several cages.

The escape took place at Gadus Group's site Alida in Voldsfjorden in More og Romsdal. More og Romsdal is a county in the northernmost part of western Norway.

The norway-based cod farming company carried out a fish count on Dec. 9 and 10 with representatives from the Norway Directorate of Fisheries to get a full accounting of the losses and determine the cause.
